With the establishment in 1907 there was again second soccer team in Bergamo, the other was known as FC Bergamo.
Italian Football, FIGC, recognized the new club until 1914. The two clubs merged in 1920 to Atalanta Bergamasca di Ginnastica e Scherma 1907. The new club attracted in 1928 in the current stadium, on the Via Pitentino.
Atalanta was admitted in 1929 in the Italian League. In 1937 came the first in Serie A, but relegated immediately. In 1940 the club promoted back to 1959 and stayed in Serie A.
It promoted immediately and then stayed to the degradation in 1973 in the Italian top division. Since then the club resides alternately in the top two divisions, and even a season (1981/1982) in Serie C1. The highest ranking was achieved in 1948, when the club finished fifth in Serie A.
