Aalborg BK or AaB is a Danish club in Aalborg. The club is known for its football department, but also hockey, handball and basketball department are represented in the highest classes of Denmark.
The club was founded on May 13, 1885 by the British as cricket club and was first called Aalborg Cricket Club.
In 1899 the name changed in Aalborg Bold Klub (“Aalborg Balclub”) and in 1906 was named Aalborg Bold 1885 adopted on spindle Klub.
The football department was founded in 1902.
In 1928 the club played for the first time in the highest class and remained there until relegation in 1947. The return of the highest class followed in 1963.
In the seasons 1972, 1978 and from 1981 to 1986 the club played in 2nd class for the rest of the club was always at the highest level blijen.
In 1995 won the club for the first national title in the qualifying round of the Champions League the club Dynamo Kiev disabled, but by a bribery scandal in Kiev Dynamo disqualified and if Aalborg take their place and became the first Danish club who participated to the group stage of the Champions League.
In 1999, the second title is brought in, again, the club Dynamo Kiev against the lottery and lost narrowly. Since then, the best performance of the club in fourth place (2002 and 2005).
