Microsoft Game Studios (MGS), established in 2002 (also known as Microsoft Game Division), is a company wholly owned by Microsoft Corp.. Which develops and publishes video games for the platforms Microsoft Windows stamped or Xbox and Xbox 360? MGS publishes games development studios like Bungie Studios internal or Rare Ltd.. As well as third-party development studios such as Beware and Bizarre Creations.
In August 2002, MGS acquired Rare from Nintendo studio. Meanwhile, rumors have reported merger between Microsoft and Japanese companies like Sega, Namco, Square Enix, or even Nintendo. The reason is mainly that the Japanese market has never really been operated by Microsoft and is very profitable, contrary to U.S. and European markets.
