VfL Wolfsburg are a football club in the city of Wolfsburg in Lower Saxony, Germany. The club is 100% owned by Volkswagen AG, which also sponsors the city’s stadium, which has been named the Volkswagen Arena. Stadium can accommodate 30,000 spectators. The club secured in season 2008/2009, so far only notable trophy, when the German championship was taken home.
VfL Wolfsburg was founded on 12 September 1945th since the club was founded, it was only seven years after the city of Wolfsburg was founded around the Volkswagen factory.
The club was founded as a multi sports club to work at Volkswagen, and has been since its inception including gymnastics, handball, basketball, hockey, athletics, swimming and of course football as the first sports. Latest addition is motorsport from 2005.
For many years the club played in the lower ranks, but in 1993 moved the club for the third time up in the second Bundesliga, where, unlike 1974 and 1976 are not pulled down again. In 1997 the club moved up in the Bundesliga, where it has remained since, despite predictions of a quick relegation in the first season.

In 2003, Wolfsburg lost the final of Interstate Cupen to AS Perugia, and was thus not included in the UEFA Cup.
The club’s location in the 2004/05-sæsonen had a 9th space. In season 2005/2006 hours, however, they are not as good as the season before – season ended with a disappointing 15th space, a feat which was repeated the following year. In 2007/08-sæsonen was however set a new record in the club since it ended on a nice 5th space for the year after taking home the first German championship to the club, ever.
The club won the championship with three points down to the row number two, FC Bayern Munich. This also meant that the club had to play UEFA Champions League for the first time in club history in the season 2009/10.
In the same season the club made two front attackers, Edin Dzeko and Grafite, two impressive records: They were the first two players from the same club to score over 20 goals in the same season in the Bundesliga. They also held the record from 1973 for most goals scored by two attackers on the same team with 54 goals in total.
