]]> Hitachi-LG Data Storage (abgekürzt HL-DS) ist ein Joint Venture zwischen Hitachi und LG. Das Unternehmen wurde im November 2000 gegründet, startete seinen Betrieb im Januar 2001 und ausgeliefert sein erstes Produkt, das HL-DT-ST GCC-4120B Combo-Laufwerk, auf Juni 2001.

Das Unternehmen ist ein OEM-Hersteller von optischen Datenträgern wie CD-und DVD-Laufwerke für Desktop-und Notebook-Computern. Es verkauft nicht direkt an die Verbraucher. Im Juli 2006 startete das Unternehmen auf Blu-ray Disc-Laufwerken zu entwickeln. Betriebssysteme erkennen ihre Laufwerke als “HL-DT-ST” (Hitachi-LG Data Storage), gefolgt von dem eigentlichen Produkt Modell.
