The company was founded April 14, 1992, the first flight to Ercan International Airport (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) was inaugurated on 14 May of that year with an Airbus A320. A year after its founding, the company had four planes in its fleet.
In 1994, Onur Air allies with the tour operator Tour Ten, thus the number of passengers is steadily increasing and in order to meet this demand, the company joined five other planes to reach in 1995 a fleet of nine aircraft. In three years, the company has grown from 150 to 512 personnel.
From 1995 to 1997, Onur Air rejuvenates its fleet by purchasing three Airbus A321s, 3 Airbus A300 and five MD-88 to reach a fleet of 16 aircraft, with a capacity of 3503 seats and a number of 912 employees.
In 1998, the financial crisis affects Turkey and therefore has to Onur Air’s benefits to the decline: the fleet is reduced to nine aircraft in 1999. From 2000, the company starts to grow again in 2010 to reach a fleet of 30 aircraft.
