Mansfield Town is an English football club based Mansfield. The club was founded in 1897 as Mansfield Wesleyans; the present name was adopted in 1910. In the Field Mill stadium has been playing football since 1861 and this is one of the oldest stadiums in the world. In 1931/32 the club was admitted to the Football League and started in the Third Division South.
Much more than a place in the middle was not there and when the league resumed after the Second World War, Mansfield even recent. The centrality of Mansfield played the club regularly in the North Division that was a lot better in 1948 with an 8th place.
Three years later the club was even vice champion behind Rotherham United. In 1958 the club could remain in 3rd after the Fourth Division was established and the North and South Division amalgamated into 1 class.
The following season it was heavy with the best teams in 2 divisions, which together now and was just avoided relegation.
It was only a reprieve as in 1960. After 3 seasons doctorate Mansfield returned and was 7th in the Third Division. The following year, even 3rd and the Second Division was now very near. Then it slowly went downhill.
