It was founded in 1895 with the name as a club Eintracht FUCC football and cricket. In 1906 changed its name to become FC Eintracht 1895 evy in 1920 took the name Eintracht Braunschweig. The club was reformed after the Second World War and in 1945 was renamed TSV Brunswick, until finally in 1949 it acquired its present name.
The team has a colorful history and quickly became one of the favorite teams of northern Germany. His beginnings were successful, playing in the top league and getting the North German Championship in 1908 and 1913. In 1914 three players from Eintracht Braunschweig involving the German national team. Under the Third Reich the team played in the Gauliga and reached the national finals.
He continued playing in the top leagues after the war except for a single season (1952-53) in which he played in the second division. The team was touched by tragedy in 1949 when goalkeeper Faehland died of internal bleeding a few days after being hit during a game with Bremen striker. In 1958 finished third in the national championship.

The good level of play demonstrated financial stability and helped to Eintracht Braunschweig to become one of the sixteen teams selected from 46, to play the 1. Bundesliga, the new professional league formed West Germany in 1963. The new team enjoyed early success, achieving the national title in the 1966-67 season based on their solid defensive play.
