Digg started as an experiment in November 2004 by Kevin Rose, Owen Byrne, RonGorodetzky, and Jay Adelson. However, only Kevin and Ron, who still plays an active role in the management of this site. The original design of the site is free of advertising, and was designed by Dan Ries. Digg then became more popular, by adding Google AdSense to the web site.
In July 2005, the site has been updated to version 2.0. The new version is issued by displaying a list of friends, the ability to “digg or dig” a story without redirected to another site, and a new look designed by web design firm silver orange.
