After Cork United and Cork Hibernians in 1976 were dissolved in 1982 had the second largest city in Ireland no longer so great Cork City Football Club was founded in 1984 and once in the first class was admitted.
The first few years the club was not very successful and often played for conservation.
Late 80′s it went better, the League Cup was won. From 1991-1994 the club finished consistently in the top three.
With the title in 1993 was the first club to participate in the European Cup (Champions League did not exist), since the club won the second round. In 1998 the cup was brought, and in 2005 the club became champion again.
