Founded in 1889 to serve as a search for a winter sport for rowers of Brentford Club, the club spent his early years in the lower divisions of the Football League and got a little of note except a move to its present day home give good knowledge of Griffin Park in 1904.
In 1921, he was a founder member of the Third Division of the Southern League. During late 1920 and 1930, the club began to make real progress.
In the 1929-30 season, the side won all 21 of its home games in the Third Division of the Southern League (a record that still stands in English football), but tripped on promotion.
After several more near misses, promotion to the Second Division was finally achieved in 1932-33. Two years later, Brentford reached the First Division and finished 5th in his debut season – which is still the club’s highest ever league position – to complete a remarkable rise for the club.
Brentford won the most impressive location in the league for the remainder of the decade (60 in the next two seasons) before World War II interrupted.
