Republic unitary enterprise “National Aircompany” Belavia “operates as an airline Belavia Belarusian Airlines is owned by the government of Belarus, based in Minsk. The company is the flag carrier of Belarus. Belavia connecting routes in the cities of Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, along with several Eastern destination the middle. the company is based in Minsk International Airport. and has 1.017 employees.
On 7 November 1933, the first air terminal in Belarus opened in Minsk. In the following spring 3 Po-2 aircraft landed in Minsk. They became the first aircraft in the fleet of Belarus. In 1936 the first regular air route between Minsk and Moscow opened. In the summer of 1940 Belarusian civil aviation group was officially founded. On October 16, 2003, Belavia signed a lease agreement for its first Boeing 737-500.
In 2004, Belavia further expand its operations and gets one more Boeing 737. On June 26, 2004 Belavia opened a new route to Hanover, Germany. 2008 witnessed the airline’s return path opened between Minsk and Shannon airport in Ireland.
Three Bombardier CRJ 100 aircraft leasing results were introduced to serve regional routes from Minsk. The first aircraft delivered in February 2007, with the remainder at the end of the year. They are directly replace Antonov An-24 and Tupolev Tu-134 that has been aging. The government also plans to incorporate Gomelavia regional airline and cargo operator Trans Avia Export into Belavia.
