Barnsley F.C. is an English football team from the Barnsley in Yorkshire, playing in The Championship.
Club only once a played in Premier League and it was in 1997/1998-sæsonen where it together with the other two extractors that year, Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers, had to leave the league after just one season.
Since the club has been a trip down the Football League One, but returned in 2006 back to the Championship after a play-off victory over Swansea City. In season 2007/08, they beat among other Liverpool FC and FC Chelsea out of FA Cup and reached the semifinals, where it was a narrow 0-1 defeat to Swansea.
The club was founded in 1887 under the name of Barnsley St. Peter’s, but changed ten years later to its current name. In 1912 the club won the FA Cup, which is the club’s only trophy to date.
