Adobe AIR, code-named Apollo, 1 is a cross-platform runtime environment for building RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) using Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex, HTML and AJAX, which can be used as desktop applications.
On March 19, 2007, Adobe released a preview version of AIR (called Apollo) along with an SDK (Software Development Kit) and an extension for developing Apollo applications with Adobe Flex.
On June 10, 2007, was renamed AIR (Adobe AIR) and released a beta version of the runtime environment. The second beta version of AIR SDK was released on October 1, 2007. The beta 3, published on December 12, 2007. Finally, version 1.0 was released on February 25, 2008.
