AC Fiorentina was founded on 26 August 1926 by the merger of Libertas and Club Sportivo Firenze.
The first price that the club won the Coppa Italia was in season 1939/40. The first scudetto (league title) was in season 1955/56 brought.
The following year made it the finals of the European Cup I. Around this time the club was very successful, it won in season 1960/61 a Coppa Italia and the first ever European Cup II in history was won in a final against Glasgow Rangers. Also in the season then took it again in the final of the European Cup II.
After winning the club in season 1965/66 Coppa Italia again in 1968/1969 the national title, but after the club was not very successful anymore. They even relegated to Serie B, but after 1 year (1993-1994) in which Serie B the club was already back in Serie A. In the seasons 1995/96 and 2000/2001 again won the Coppa Italia.
