Acer is a Taiwanese company that produces computers and computer products. It is the second largest computer manufacturer in the world and the largest retail sales of computers in Taiwan. The Acer’s product offering includes PCs, servers and storage, monitors, peripherals and Internet presence solutions for businesses, government, education, and home users.
Multitech, a company that was founded in 1976 by Stan Shih, changed its name, becoming known as Acer in 1981. The Acer Group employs 39,000 people, including dealers and service personnel in 100 countries. Revenues reached $ 12.9 billion in the U.S. in 2002.The company headquarters is in Hsichih City, Taipei County, Taiwan.
The Acer subsidiary of Acer Computer Australia is Australia, which besides being the number 3 in the total market for desktops and laptops, is the leading vendor in key segments such as government and education. The North American market share has fallen Acer in recent years, while Europe’s share has been increasing. Acer is trying to re-enter the U.S. market but is not yet known whether it will work. Much of its success in Europe can be attributed to its sponsorship of the Ferrari Formula 1 Team and prior Prost Grand Prix. Acer is rumored to soon be sponsoring the American based Champ Car World Series.
