Club Atletico “Gimnasia and Esgrima” (ie, athletic club “Gymnastics and Fencing”) was founded March 18, 1931. This is the strongest club in the north-west of the country.
“Gimnasia” spent 17 seasons in the top division championship in Argentina. For the first time took part in the elite tournament National in 1967, and in 1970 it was involved with virtually no interruption.
