The Club Atletico Independiente, known more simply as Independiente, Argentina is a football club based in Avellaneda, in the Greater Buenos Aires.
Founded in 1905, play their home matches in the Libertadores de America Stadium.
Known as Los Diablos Rojos (Red Devils) or Rey de Copas (King of Cups), Independiente has won 14 national championships Argentine (placing it third behind River Plate and Boca Juniors by number of wins), 7 Copa Libertadores ,
with an unmatched record of 4 consecutive wins from 1972 to 1975, and a total of 16 international titles, including three Interamericane Cups and two Intercontinental Cups in 1973 and 1984.
It is the only team to Argentina with Boca Juniors never to be relegated.
This is the main rival Independiente Racing Club, which has its own stadium a couple of hundred meters from Independiente. Both clubs disputed the access of Avellaneda derby.
