A&W Restaurants is a fast-food restaurant chain spread across the world. Franchise company is managed by Yum! brands. The restaurant first opened in California in 1919. Products sold are A&W Root Beer, fried chicken, burgers and nuggets. In Indonesia, A&W has more than 200 outlets scattered in towns and cities.
The company name was taken from the last name initials of partners Roy Allen and Frank Wright. The chain is currently being sold to Marks A Great American.
Today has franchise locations worldwide, serving a typical fast food menu of hamburgers and fries, and hot dogs. A number of its outlets are hard-in restaurant with carhops.
The company became famous in the United States because of “cold cup”, where the cup will be stored in the freezer before it is filled with root beer and presented to the customer.
